The premise of this debut novel known as the "Who Dun Him Inn Mysteries," was a delightful one. A remodeled Bed and Breakfast is following a theme. Murder Mysteries. Each room is decorated after a famous Author or book. Such as the Jessica Fletcher room. All kitted out with items Jessica would surround herself with. For the grand opening weekend, there is a notable Literary Agent and several of his famous Authors in attendance.Inn owner, Vickie Butler, a twenty-six year old widow trying to raise her child and pay the bills, hopes this hook will drawn in clients. True to Utah weather, the worst snow storm in decades has flown in with the Authors. The cook was in a car accident, and Grandma Ross takes over. Grandma is a personality and announces that she wants a 'Boy Toy.'
Everything seems to be going along well, until, the power goes out and the Literary Agent is murdered.
There are many twists and turns. Nothing is as it appears. Not to mention the romance in the air. Being sheltered Mormons, Vickie and her twin, Liz, they have to face the outside world. All I can say is to repeat a phrase most often heard, "Men!"
This book has humor, good solid scenarios, theories, romance, and will keep you guessing until the ending. Also, a delicious recipe is included.
I do have one issue. Whomever edited the book became lazy. I counted over 15 spelling errors and they were enough to confuse you. Most of them you just mentally put in the intended word, but, some had you trying to figure it out. Also, there were so many persons introduced that I would have appreciated a cast list. I mean this with kindness as the series could be something special and I'm sure it will. Give it a try

Snowed Inn WhoDunHim Inn Cozy Mystery #1 edition by Heather Horrocks Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I really enjoyed this cozy read for its clean language, great authors rooms and wonderful Grandma. Even tho there were several players it was fairly easy to follow the plot. However, the reason I gave it only 3 stars was because there were so many confusing errors! One line has a man sitting, the next line has him standing and sitting all at the same time without any info about how or if he moved. Very confusing, the worse edit job I've ever come across despite the author saying it had been edited many times, including herself twice! I'll try another book by this author and hope it is better card for. If not then I won't be continuing this series.
Snowed Inn is a will written mystery with interesting will developed characters. The location is great. The story line is a who did it to the conclusion. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys will written mysteries. Enjoy reading
I rated this two stars because writing a book, any book, is a challenging endeavor. Having said that, I found the characters in this story to be flat, two-dimensional, stilted and BORING. I didn't care who lived, died, who-done-it or why. Add to that the Mormon aspect, which was mentioned constantly throughout the book and had absolutely nothing to do with the story, and the best I can say is it's a good cure for insomnia. It's unfortunate because the basic story could have had so much potential. The idea of authors and their agent snowed in and the agent gets murdered could have really gone somewhere. I enjoyed the idea of themed rooms based on well known, celebrated sleuths. There were some good ideas in the plot. Too bad the writing didn't follow through.
I enjoyed Snowed Inn. The cast of characters was interesting, as was the mystery itself. I truly did not know whodunit until the very end. It's a great book for a cozy afternoon read.
The drawbacks for me included quite a few editing issues. There were sentences in this book I had to go back and re-read because I thought I'd read them wrong. Nope, just poor editing.
Also, and this is absolutely my own issue, I did not care for the romance in the book. It is so hard to merge mystery and romance well and in this book, as in so many others, its inclusion just seems forced and silly. It detracts from the very decent mystery aspect.
However, I am hoping that a second book in this series is available soon as I would like to continue reading about this fun family and Vicki's adventures running her unique inn.
I really loved this cozy mystery by a writer that is completely new to me. I actually paid for this book, because it sounded so intriguing I couldn't wait to see if it would be offered for free somewhere down the line. It didn't disappoint. I love a story that takes place in an isolated location, especially if it's a mystery where there's a group of people cut off from help while a murderer is picking them off. I love stories about writers, stories where people are snowed in, and stories about murder mystery plays/games that get out of hand. This book had it all! It also had an interesting cast of characters that I enjoyed meeting and can't wait to revisit. The next book in this series is a must-buy for me.
I was uncertain when I first started reading because it was considered to be Christan literature, but several pages into the book my uncertainty turned to delight. First, the story takes place in the mountains of Utah near Salt Lake City and I am a native of Utah living in Colorado so I am aware of not only the area, but the fact that the main character(s) are from a Mormon familiy, and, while I am not Mormon, I am familiar with some of their "taboos."
The next reason I enjoyed the book is that Heather is a very descriptive writer. She made me see the lovely old family mansion that had been converted into the Who-Dun-Him-Inn, with the guestrooms designed to honor some of owner Victoria's favorite literary sleuths. I could easily picture each person that was snowed in with her, and some of her family, that eventful weekend.
Finally, with the quirky characters---from a gun-totting grandmother to a newspaper reporter/chef to a little boy with an imgainary dog, one of the worst snow storms in many a winter, and a murder, I found I was sorry when the book was over. So much so, that I ordered the second book in the series.
